That’s why you can create user personas, an imaginary example of one of your customers so you can better understand your client base.

By breaking down your demographic into a single individual, you can work to develop a deeper understanding of your customer and tailor your content towards their unique needs. No two customers are the same but there is an overall general audience for your business. However, normally one persona can’t simply encompass your entire audience which is why creating a few personas can be beneficial to your company.

You can begin by gathering information towards a persona profile by looking through your contacts database and looking at customer and lead data. Here are some questions you should ask yourself regarding your consumer base:

  • Who? Include information about their age, gender, education, occupation, location, hobbies interests, income and consumer habits. 
  • What environment are they in? Find out where and when they are using your website and from what kind of device. 
  • What is their purpose? Learn why they are on your website in the first place and if they have a broader desired outcome. 

Sometimes we may wonder, who is the strongest user persona? But this is an entirely subjective question. It depends on your company, its goals and what person you are targeting. But the more robust your user persona is, the better it can help you develop an SEO marketing strategy. The more accurate your user persona is, the more you can better perform SEO targeting.

Utilizing Your User Persona For SEO

Now that you have created your user persona, you can begin preparing your SEO marketing strategy directed at them. You can now tailor content towards your user persona, which can include blog posts, Google ads, etc. 

Take your persona into consideration when choosing your keywords. Do the keywords you have chosen reflect your user persona accurately? This will help you set the tone and direction of your content. The language you would use for a tech-savvy business expert persona would be very different from a yoga instructor who’s looking to start a blog.

You can also use your persona for link building. Link building is an important component of SEO as it can help increase the visibility of your pages and can help you gain authority by linking to other websites. The goal is to have your content shared within your target audience, so you must consider their interests and goals and link to related content.
